In the seasons second scheduled interleague play, the Oakland A's beat the San Francisco Giants 5 to 1 Friday night. Former A's pitcher Barry Zito received the loss allowing six hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings. He talked about his struggles since leaving Oakland, ''I can't sit around and pity myself and get depressed. I can't afford that luxury.'' Since leaving the A's and signing a $126 million dollar contract with the Giants his won/loss record is a dismal 13-23.
The second bagger Mark Ellis was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a walk.
